The BTU PDC and City Schools are Offering Tutorials for the ParaPro Test
The Baltimore Teachers Union-Professional Development Center in collaboration with City Schools is offering ParaPro Praxis Tutorial Classes as part of an effort to ensure that interested PSRPs are qualified for placement as a paraeducator. The purpose of the tutorial offering is to increase reading, writing and mathematics skills as preparation for the state mandated test. Three cycles of classes; including two school day sessions and one Saturday session has been planned. The school day classes (8:30-3:05) are scheduled for those who do not provide direct services to students, for the week of April 16th and the week beginning May 14th. Five Saturday sessions are scheduled (9:00-3:00) to begin April 28th. PSRPs who have been identified as surplus at their location; and seek to be highly qualified as a paraeducator are encouraged to register for the ParaPro classes through the Professional Growth System from the City Schools Inside website. Non-surplus PSRPs who are interested in participating may submit an email request for registration to Ms. Tiphane Waddell (tfwaddell@bcps.k12.md.us). The email must include the class title and date you will attend. Participants are expected to attend all sessions of the cycle chosen.

Each year around this time, a number of valued, veteran Baltimore City Public Schools (City Schools) paraprofessionals consider their retirement options. If you are doing so this spring, we’d like to make sure you know about the options available to you, including the following early retirement offer.
This year, in collaboration with the Baltimore Teachers Union (BTU), City Schools is offering the most tenured members of the paraprofessional chapter an incentive to voluntarily separate from City Schools. The Early Retirement Incentive Plan (ERIP-PSRP PARA) will provide eligible participants with an incentive equal to 50 percent of their current salary, paid in a lump sum into an approved City Schools 403(b) investment plan of their choice.
We will be sending an enrollment kit to you at your work email address with many more details in the coming weeks; please keep an eye out. In the meantime, we encourage you to attend upcoming ERIP-PSRP PARA information sessions on Thursday, March 15, and Friday, March 16; both sessions will take place 4-7 p.m. in Room 301 at the district office. Estimate of Service Retirement Allowance (Form 9).
